This page demonstrates a series of procedures for our classes, including how to set up your Doodle Sheet, and how to wrap up the power-cable, if you borrow it from Mr. Wing.
At the beginning of the school year, one of the first exercises and procedures is to fold, line and label the Daily Doodle sheet. The Daily Doodle is a warm-up exercise that students perform every day. It should take less than 7 minutes to complete, if students are on-task. Over the course of the school year, if students aren't absent, they'll draw between 150 - 180 cartoons -- not including those for actual assignments.
This video presents what your Doodle Sheet should look like. It may not look exactly like this (as regards the position or placement of each doodle (cartoon), but the features of the sheet should have all of what you need to have on yours -- in particular, the Doodle Number and the Date it was assigned.
Drawing the same cartoon each class period, and having a discussion with students, as to how each class might embellish the rooster we drew in class became one of my favorite lessons so far this semester. Each class added their own ideas as I demonstrated the construction technique for drawing cartoons. At the end of the day we had five different embellishments, which, following-up the next day, became a lively discussion in class, and some ideas for writing gags for each -- as well as a sequential series with all five.
