When I began teaching basic drawing skills, and remembering the kinds of cartoons I used to like drawing, I began a search for various simple illustrations on monsters; I recently began playing around with the Bing Search engine, and got these results for "Monsters Under My Bed," which began with this worksheet I found on Pinterest a number of years ago. Beginning the second semester, (on February 14th), I began posting them on the Daily Objectives Slides, for students to use as a warm-up exercise. Eventually I will draw and record YouTube videos on the construction process using these simple cartoons. This past week, I put together this list from etsy.com (and even purchased a few collections, which I'll be using for examples:
Practice drawing (more realistic illustrated) "Gouls" -- or how about mixing and matching parts for different monsters, like something with a tiki mask for a face, adding human legs and tentacles for arms. (which you can see, by the lack of examples on that Google search, there's plenty of room for you to post your variations -- and maybe even sell them on sites like Etsy.com for Halloween 2025!) (jus' sayin').
If you have a few bucks, you can purchase cartoon clip art, vector graphics, and single-panel illustrations from several dedicated online marketplaces and stock agencies:

Etsy – A marketplace where independent digital artists sell hand-drawn cartoon PNG bundles, character sets, and commercial-use sticker packs.

You might have difficulty accessing A.I. image-generators; I queried Google as to why this is, asking, "is there an image-generating a.i. that isn't blocked at San Diego Unified School District for middle school students to use?" and it said [link to search result].
Alternately, (once you've exhausted your "research" of looking at other illustrator's work and copying them), try this method of ideation: using chatGPT's Image-Generation tool, copy and paste one of the following prompts, changing the animal to your Totem, and changing the costume to different ones, (like a witch, a ghost, a goblin, a skeleton, etc. You can also try design.com has an A.I. built-in, for creating logo designs and illustrations. Try one of these prompts:
Try design.com with a prompt like, "Create a black and white coloring page Illustration of a cute Turtle in a Frankenstein costume, trick-or-treating for Halloween. Have the Turtle carrying a plastic pumpkin with candy in it, walking to the next house (facing/walking right). Draw it in the Japanese "chibi" style."
